Key Biscayne Police say a group of young males stole two vehicles early Tuesday and broke into “at least” two others.
“Our officers spotted the subjects and engaged their emergency systems in an effort to take them into custody and recover the stolen property,” said Police Chief Charles Press in a statement.
The subjects fled north on Crandon Boulevard, he said.
Although police gave chase, officers were forced to terminate pursuit due to department policy, Press said without elaborating. He said officers alerted other agencies and have started an investigation to develop leads.
In addition, he said the department will use additional personnel to deter a recurrence.
Police declined to provide additional information.
